Global markets were mostly higher overnight (S&P 500 index +0.8%) with US markets reaching new record highs on favourable economic data and as stimulus talks refuelled optimism.

Global markets were higher on Friday (S&P 500 index +0.7%) with US markets at fresh highs and the dollar weakened to a 2-year low as the Federal Reserve’s new inflation approach was digested by global markets.

Investors digested the US Federal Reserve’s new strategy to adopt an average inflation target and restore the United States to full employment.
