Global markets were higher overnight as shares on Wall Street gained led by marquee technology stocks hitting record highs and a rebound in industrials, as optimism of a strong earnings season offset fears about a US-China trade war.

Global markets were lower overnight as shares on Wall Street snapped a four-day winning streak after Washington’s threat to impose tariffs on an additional $200 billion worth of Chinese goods put fears of an escalating trade war back in the spotlight.

As we touched on yesterday, investors appear to have shrugged off trade war concerns for now and are looking ahead to US quarterly earnings season which kicks off at the end of the week
